Product Guru – Hospitality Markets

JAZD Product Guru – Loud Voice, Strong Insights, Product Knowledge:

The Product Guru is a key member of the JAZD Markets (JAZD) Team and will work directly with the JAZD Marketing, SEO, Sales & Management Team members to shape the overall direction of the company’s go-to-market approach and comprehensive marketing services. The Product Guru will have direct responsibility for all JAZD research and editorial programs for the Hospitality Markets vertical marketplaces. The Product Guru will interact daily with the CMO’s team at Hospitality Markets focused product companies and their targeted buyers to shape the most innovative and authoritative research agenda and voice in the marketplace. This role reports directly to the CEO of the company.

JAZD is lead by Founder and CEO, Jamie Bedard (celebrated turnaround CEO of Aberdeen Group) with significant financial investments by Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Pilot House Ventures. The company combines survey research, product analysis, directory placement, online advertising, lead generation and social networking with search engine optimization into an innovative Marketing as a Service (MaaS) platform where advertisers can measure and optimize the value from their online marketing spend.

What Does a Guru Do?

  • Product Innovation Publishing – published product alerts, quarterly research agenda, online survey development, survey results data analysis, report publication, industry event speaking, product supplier briefings
    • Manage a monthly research survey and editorial publication calendar focused on product benefits, issues and value delivered
    • Publish monthly sponsored product evaluation reports based on survey and analysis data from product users
    • Lead monthly product innovation conference calls with leading product vendors marketing teams to understand product direction
    • Publish “Product Spotlight” reviews and updates on new products in all markets and develop a subscribed weekly newsletter readership focused on new product introductions into the market
    • Lead the user-generated product ratings and reviews forum for all product categories
  • Marketplace Discussion Leadership – webinars, industry event speaking, vendor briefings, user discussion forum facilitator, blog leadership
    • Participate in leading industry events as a featured speaker based on product insights
    • Conduct routine vendor briefings on updates to their products, market messaging, client wins and strategic advisory
    • Publish a monthly webinar on innovation in Technology Industry technology products
    • Publish a monthly newsletter on innovation in Technology Industry technology products
    • Publish daily on key buyer challenges with current product in the market, vendor customer wins and losses and product regulation
  • Industry Content Coordination – product taxonomy, publication partner content aggregation, synthesis and integration, Industry RSS feeds, vendor microsite content integration
    • Create and manage the product category taxonomy directory structure linking suppliers and products by category using taxonomy mapping tools and a user-generated wiki
    • Review all publication partner content and RSS feeds and publish weekly synthesis of relevant articles with SEO-enabled cross linking to companies and products microsites
    • Engage Industry-leading bloggers in guest commentary and mutual linking programs
    • Partner with JAZD SEO team to ensure that all content, related terms and online pages are fully optimized across all organic search engines
    • Create marketing programs and content linking tactics to drive online traffic to targeted reports and whitepapers across the marketplace
    • Establish targeted and relevant product innovation content programs that fuels ongoing SEO and opt-in marketing tactics across the marketplace

Are You the Guru?

The Product Guru must have a deep understanding of the requirements for product marketing, online B2B communities, content publishing and managing complex product category structures. This person must have high enthusiasm, strong communication skills, publish frequently, creativity and interest in building a world-class business within a fast paced, start-up environment.

Specific required experience:

  • 5+ years of product marketing and/or content publishing
  • Direct insight in product category taxonomy requirements for the marketplace
  • Direct industry exposure to product development challenges, procurement practices, industry pain points and global reach across the marketplace
  • Frequently published and quoted on issues within the hospitality market
  • Proven results in working directly on go-to-market challenges for product suppliers
  • Conducted multi-client online survey based programs on product purchasing decisions
  • Proven results in building large online interactive B2B communities of readers with an emphasis on content value, viral campaigns and permission-based marketing tactics
  • Direct leadership experience in the development and delivery of monthly, weekly, daily editorial publishing, product reviews, case studies, white papers and product evaluation reports
  • Experience with directory functionality, social networking technology, data analytics, online survey tools and content management software

A Degree with a concentration in journalism, marketing, technology or business from a top school is required. An MBA from a top business school is highly preferred. Direct experience in a product marketing role within an Hospitality Markets -focused product company is preferred.

Compensation:
